Dr. Barton graduated summa cum laude from UCSD then received his MD from UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at UCLA, followed by fellowship training at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. This training included intraoperative monitoring, clinical neurophysiology, electromyography (EMG/NCV), electroencephalography (EEG), and neuromuscular disease.

Dr. Barton is dual board-certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. He has great enthusiasm and drive for patient care to go with his robust academic and clinical background. His research interests have included electromyography, neuromuscular disease, electroencephalography, vestibular testing, and peripheral neuropathy. He is currently active in clinical research studies and has been awarded research grants in multiple disciplines.

On a personal note, Dr. Barton was born and raised in Los Angeles and is married with three daughters. His studies have taken him around the world, including Russia and Beijing University in China. He had also been an award-winning competitive ballroom dancer and is an accomplished impressionist oil painter.
