Dr. Conoyer is a seventh-generation resident of St. Charles County and a second-generation otolaryngologist—head & neck surgeon. He grew up in St. Charles, graduating from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1991 and from Duchesne High School in 1995. He then attended St. Louis University, where he majored in biology while minoring in philosophy and theology. In college, Dr. Conoyer was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Societies. He graduated summa cum laude in 1999 and was selected for early admission to the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Vanderbilt in 2003. After medical school, Dr. Conoyer continued his medical training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he served his surgical internship from 2003-2004 and his residency in otolaryngology—head & neck surgery from 2004-2008. During residency, he authored multiple medical textbook contributions and original scientific articles. His original findings linking smoking to hearing loss garnered attention from national news outlets and many scientific citations. After serving a year as Chief Resident, he moved his family back home to St. Charles County to join Midwest ENT Centre in 2008. Since that time, Dr. Conoyer has developed a reputation as a regional early adopter of emerging medical technologies and minimally-invasive surgical procedures that offer better outcomes and quality-of-life to his patients. He was the first in the bi-state area to perform an in-office balloon sinus dilation procedure and remains among the nation’s most experienced with these procedures. He has similarly been a pioneer with many other office-based ENT technologies, including the Vivaer® procedure (treating nasal obstruction), Eustachian tube dilation, posterior nasal nerve treatments for vasomotor rhinitis, steroid-eluting sinus implantations and the fitting and placement of direct-drive hearing aids. Dr. Conoyer lives in St. Charles County with his wife, Ellen, and their four children. When not caring for his patients, he enjoys coaching youth basketball, wildlife land management and hunting. He is active in his Church, his local parish, and several outreach ministries. Dr. Conoyer is board-certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery and has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Benjamin Conoyer was born and raised in St. Charles, Missouri. His family roots are traceable back to the French founding fathers of the community. He graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1993, from Duchesne High School in 1997, and received a B.S. in Chemistry from St. Louis University in 2001. He continued on to receive a Masters in Anatomy degree from St. Louis University. with emphasis in research. He published his thesis on the histology of the cerebellum in reptiles.Observing the formation of Midwest ENT in the years 2000-2002, Dr. Conoyer set the professional goal of practicing Otolaryngology with his father, brother, and all the exceptional doctors of Midwest ENT. In 2003, he enrolled in the St. Louis University School of Medicine and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2007. During his medical school years, he continued to instruct other medical professionals in human anatomy and Advanced Trauma Life Support.Dr. Conoyer completed a General Surgery Internship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2008, and returned to St. Louis University to train in Otolaryngology. While in his residency, he served on several governing boards involved with improving the quality of resident education. His research interests included treatment protocols for Idiopathic Sudden Sensory Neural Hearing Loss and the characteristics of malignant tumors on Positron Emission Tomography (PET scanning). Having completed his ENT training in 2013, he is pleased to be joining Midwest ENT. Like the partners, he is committed to providing quality ear, nose and throat care to residents of our region.While rotating through Cardinal Glennon Hospital, Dr. Conoyer met his wife, Rachel (nee Ervin), R.N., B.S.N. She is the Nursing Director of the Ambulatory Care Center and its outreach sites for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. They have been married since 2011. They recently moved to St. Charles and are looking forward to starting a family. In his free time, Dr. Ben enjoys Cardinal baseball, hunting, camping and biking.
