Overview
Daniel Simon, MD, was born in Illinois and spent his childhood moving throughout the Midwest with his family, ultimately settling in Kansas City. Daniel attended the University of Kansas where he pursued Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and graduated with highest distinction. Daniel then proceeded to attend medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he developed an interest in the field of Urology, which led to his involvement in clinical research on shared decision-making in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Daniel went on to complete his urology residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. His clinical research during residency led to several awards and multiple publications. While in residency, he also served as vice chair for the Rush Resident Wellness Committee and gained clinical experience abroad while participating in a multidisciplinary surgical mission trip to Azua, Dominican Republic.
Driven by a desire to improve patient outcomes and enhance surgical recovery, Daniel chose to pursue an additional one-year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in fellowship, his mother was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer, and this difficult experience further solidified his desire to care compassionately for medically complex cancer patients.
During his time in medical school, Daniel met his wife, Lauren, while she was completing her nursing degree at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. Daniel and his wife enjoy traveling the world, hiking, and welcome any opportunity to spend time outdoors or on the water together. As avid skiers, they are looking forward to their transition to the mountains of Salt Lake City, Utah.
His top areas of expertise are Bladder Cancer and Cystectomy.
His clinical research consists of co-authoring 2 peer reviewed articles. MediFind looks at clinical research from the past 15 years.
