Philosophy of care | It’s all about encouraging patients – empowering women – to take care of themselves and make the very best of their lives. We see them back for their annual checkups and we learn about their lives. They become family. And we have such an incredible staff. It’s such a warm environment here. I feel really blessed. | Why I entered medicine | I was an athlete growing up, becoming a figure skater and later a competitive speedskater in the era of Eric and Beth Heiden. After I retired from my sport, I wasn’t sure what to do with my life and got a job at a YWCA, where I had to be certified in CPR. That led me to meeting some EMS personnel, who inspired me to volunteer for Cetronia’s ambulance corps. The amazing work they do in saving people’s lives, I knew that was for me. That blossomed into a career in medicine. | Community involvement | I donate regularly to Goodwill and to American Family Services. I used to be very active working at soup kitchens, but due to scheduling conflicts, I haven't been able to participate over the last few years. I do plan to volunteer again at soup kitchens. | Personal interests | I’m trying to get back to the gym. I see Apollo Ohno skating on TV and think maybe ... then I remember my knees are so shot from all the crazy stuff I did in my speedskating days. I’d just like to get into running or something else regularly again. I also love being with family and friends, and I love the Lehighton area, all the winding roads and beautiful country here. It’s a great place. Dr. George is highly rated in 5 conditions, according to our data. Her top areas of expertise are Vaginal Cysts, Vaginal Dryness, Menorrhagia, Fetal Enterovirus Syndrome, and Intrauterine Device Insertion.

"Philosophy of care | I grew up in a small Pennsylvania coal region town where everyone knew each other. I also come from a big family. My mom is one of 10 siblings with 6 sisters, and my dad was one of 4 children. We grew up in a lovely house that my parents built. We didn't have a lot of money but my parents truly put their hearts into raising our family. They worked very hard and made sacrifices, so that they could provide for us. We always knew we were loved and cared for. How does this relate to being a physician? It means I've grown up seeing love and hard work. I care for my patients as I'd want my family members to be treated. I believe it's important to listen to your patients. I want to know who they are outside of lab studies and test results. I try to avoid asking general questions but instead I ask deeper questions to understand where my patients are coming from and what their lives are really like. I've also suffered loss in my life. I lost my dad when I was young and we lost our first baby at 14 weeks. I truly believe these two tragic events have made me a better doctor. I can relate. Patients and staff often comment to me that ,""Dr. Boyle, you're really just like us."" This is my goal: for people to feel comfortable coming to me about anything even if it's just for a hug and for someone to listen. I want my patients to know that they should never feel judged or scared. | Why I entered medicine | Coming from a very large family, I have seen our share of illness and disease. When I was young I thought I would become a teacher. But as I grew up I realized that I could do a great deal to help women in need by becoming a physician. | Personal interests | I love spending time with my family. I have two kids and they are my whole world. Family is very important to me and I spend as much time as possible with my extended family. I am a runner. I also love crafting and have tried most craft activities.". Dr. Boyle is highly rated in 3 conditions, according to our data. Philosophy of care | My philosophy revolves around optimizing quality of life through minimally invasive options. I was fortunate during my training to work with nationally recognized surgeons, leading to experience in complex gynecologic care and allowing me to be an early adopter of minimally invasive options. Such advances give patients same-day options that allow them to return to their busy lives faster. I have advocated in many hospital systems for laparoscopy, robotics, minimally invasive procedures for incontinence and office-based procedures. Minimal pain, faster recovery and cutting-edge technology is the platform for all my patient care. Many are not aware that a simple solution exists for what is often an embarrassing topic to discuss. | Why I entered medicine | As a child, I was inspired by my father, who practiced medicine. As I pursued a medical career, I recognized immediately how much I was drawn to surgery and women's health. As a doctor and working mother, I focused on learning approaches that would bring more women back to their family life expeditiously. Today I have the privilege of making a profound impact on the lives of my patients. Through my ongoing pursuit of the latest in research, innovation and technology, I strive to limit pain, cure disease and improve the overall health and well-being of many women. | Personal interests | I enjoy spending time with family. I am fond of the outdoors, enjoying activities such as skiing, hiking, biking, paddleboarding and kayaking. I also love to cook, travel and read in my free time. Dr. Ailawadi is highly rated in 4 conditions, according to our data. Her top areas of expertise are Rectocele, Stress Urinary Incontinence, Uterine Prolapse, and Urinary Incontinence.

"Philosophy of care | My philosophy of care is basic: treat patients as I would want to be treated or as I would want my family to be treated. To me, this means being honest, open, always providing evidence-based medicine, and helping patients become active members in their healthcare. I also bring a unique interest in ""integrative medicine,"" which is the use of safe complementary or alternative medicine to aid in traditional patient care. In all circumstances, my focus is to recommend only evidence-based use of alternative treatments in the very best interests of my patients. | Why I entered medicine | I love the career continuity and satisfaction that being an obstetrician/gynecologist provides. It allows me to develop long-term relationships with women from adolescence, through the childbearing years, to menopause and beyond. Through medicine and particularly in the field of ob/gyn, I can provide primary care services, and family planning services, and then be the doctor who delivers your baby or operates on you should you require a gynecologic surgery. The fact that I provide minimally invasive surgery to reduce a patient’s time in the hospital is a satisfying experience I can offer to patients. It means a lot to me that I can be the same physician who cares for you and the female members of your family for most of your lives. | Personal interests | My greatest passion is families—my own family and having the privilege of helping others start to build their families.". Philosophy of care | Medicine, whether routine care or an unexpected event requiring acute intervention, requires communication between a patient and physician. My philosophy is one in which my patients are fully informed of all of the possible options (testing, results, interventions, outcomes) from the very beginning so they can contribute to the decisions we make together regarding their care. Well informed patient input is necessary to treat the whole patient and not just the problem at hand. | Why I entered medicine | Obstetrics and gynecology allows me to combine two facets of medicine -- acute and sometimes high-risk care as well as ongoing, routine visits. I enjoy getting to know my patients over time and caring for them and their unborn children during the exciting time of pregnancy. The delivery culminates in an emotional event that I am proud to share with my patients. Gynecology is the ongoing care of women. Over time a trust develops between a patient and physician, which is important to help guide patients through changes in their life cycle. I respect these relationships with my patients and enjoy hearing the updates patients provide about themselves at their yearly exam. Solo practice allows me to get to know my patients very well. This enforces these relationships and is a large part of what makes medicine so satisfying to me. | Community involvement | Being a solo ob/gyn and being available for my patients every day and night does not allow much time for outside commitments. My life can be quite unpredictable. I am, however, active in my church and have been involved with my sons school projects, trips and fundraisers. | Personal interests | I enjoy reading, antiquing, needlework projects and gardening. Re-connecting with friends is also very satisfying to me. However, a simple, unhurried meal with my family is one of my favorite ways to spend an evening. Her top area of expertise is Methimazole Antenatal Exposure.

Philosophy of care | In the field of urogynecology many conditions can significantly affect a patient’s quality of life. Issues such as pelvic organ prolapse or urinary incontinence can cause meaningful distress, and I believe it is important to offer care for them. I truly enjoy helping women get back to the activities and personal interests these conditions may have been preventing. By educating, counseling and treating my patients, I provide them care at the highest level with the comfort of a trustworthy physician. | Why I entered medicine | My life prior to medical school was focused on athletics. I played competitive basketball until college and experienced many injuries and even surgeries of my own. I always knew I wanted to become a doctor, and in dealing with these injuries I became fascinated by the technical skills and hand-eye coordination required to be a surgeon. As I progressed through medical school and my residency training, I also developed a passion for caring for women, likely stemming from many years of working with my teammates and females of all backgrounds. Urogynecology, or female pelvic reconstructive surgery, is a highly rewarding field that allows me to develop relationships with the women in our community while being able to offer them optimal care in the office or the operating room. | Community involvement | Aside from medicine, I still enjoy being involved in athletics and helping our local community. In 2021, I joined the advisory board of Philadelphia Rise, an elite youth Nike basketball league. I was also honored to be a part of “Dream Big,” an event sponsored by the Mike Pettine Foundation in Doylestown that focuses on guiding teens and young adults through obstacles as they head into their future careers. | Personal interests | Outside of work, I enjoy being active and spending time with my growing family. We love to be outdoors, at parks, in our backyard or at the beach. Fitness is also a big part of my life, and I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle, including running and Pilates. Her top areas of expertise are Urinary Incontinence, Stress Urinary Incontinence, and Uterine Prolapse.

Philosophy of care | My philosophy is practicing medicine by building strong relationships with patients. I believe in having thoughtful, open and honest conversations about patients' concerns and goals, as well as the available evidence and treatment options, so together we can come up with a plan of care they believe in. | Why I entered medicine | I became interested in medicine based on my love of learning and science and using that knowledge to help people. Over time my love for medicine has grown because it allows me to work with teams of like-minded individuals and care for patients. | Personal interests | I enjoy exploring with my partner and our two sweet pups, raising our chickens and growing vegetables in our garden. Otherwise you can find me on the couch with a coffee and a good book or watching sports on TV – I especially love women's basketball.

      What is an OB-GYN?

An obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) is a doctor specializing in the reproductive health, pregnancy, and childbirth of individuals assigned female at birth. Obstetricians focus on care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, while gynecologists manage conditions affecting the female reproductive system, like menstrual disorders or infections. Most OB-GYNs are trained in both fields, which allows them to handle a wide range of health needs. Gynecologists who are not also obstetricians do not deliver babies, while OB-GYNs typically provide this service.

What are the different types of OB-GYNs?

OB-GYNs can specialize in various areas, depending on their training and focus:

      • General OB-GYNs: Provide comprehensive reproductive health care, including routine exams, contraception, and pregnancy care.
      • Gynecologic Oncologists: Specialize in diagnosing and treating cancers of the female reproductive system.

How often should I visit an OB-GYN?

The frequency of visits depends on your health and circumstances

      • Individuals who are not pregnant: Should visit an OB-GYN once a year for preventive care, including pelvic exams and screenings.
      • Pregnant individuals: Typically have monthly visits during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, biweekly visits from weeks 28 to 36, and weekly visits from week 36 until delivery.

Your doctor might recommend more frequent visits if you have a high-risk condition.

What age should an individual start seeing an OB-GYN?

People assigned female at birth should schedule their first visit to an OB-GYN between the ages of 13 and 15. This initial visit is often a conversation about health, development, and any questions or concerns. Pap smear screenings for cervical cancer generally begin at age 21, although earlier screenings may be recommended based on individual health needs, such as having a family history of cervical cancer.

      Can OB-GYNs perform surgeries?

Yes, OB-GYNs are trained surgeons capable of performing a wide range of procedures. Common surgeries include cesarean sections (C-sections), hysterectomies, laparoscopic surgeries for conditions like endometriosis, and removal of ovarian cysts. They also perform minimally invasive procedures like dilation and curettage (D&C) or tubal ligation for sterilization. Some OB-GYNs focus heavily on surgical care, depending on their specialization or patient needs.

When should I see an OBGYN near Palmerton, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a OBGYN near Palmerton, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank OBGYNs near Palmerton, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by OBGYNs near Palmerton, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a OBGYN in Palmerton?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the OBGYN search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different OBGYN?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a OBGYN near Palmerton, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my OBGYN?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my OBGYN may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female OBGYNs near Palmerton, PA?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the OBGYN search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a OBGYN that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the OBGYN search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
