
Overview
Dr. Kristin Redmond specializes in the treatment of brain tumors and leads the spinal radiosurgery program. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University where she graduated magna cum laude with a focus in neuro-psychology. She attended medical school and obtained a Masters in Public Health in health systems management at Tulane University where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society as well as the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. Dr. Redmonds research interest focuses on the development of novel radiation techniques and therapeutic agents to treat brain and spine tumors in order to increase tumor control and overall survival. In addition, she is working to develop innovative approaches to try to limit long term toxicities and minimize neuro-cognitive dysfunction following treatment for tumors of the central nervous system. Dr. Redmond believes in a holistic approach to medicine and feels that the social and psychological components of patient care are equally important to traditional therapies. Sibley Memorial Hospital
Matthew Ladra, M.D., M.P.H., leads the dedicated pediatric team for the Johns Hopkins Proton Therapy Center and is the director of pediatric radiation oncology for the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, a clinical collaboration with Children’s National Hospital, where Dr. Ladra serves as faculty in the department of pediatric oncology. He is also an assistant professor of radiation oncology and molecular radiation sciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Ladra served as the director of pediatric radiation at the Provision Center for Proton Therapy in Tennessee. He also completed a 2-year fellowship in pediatric proton therapy at the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Francis H. Burr Proton Center. Dr. Ladra is one of a handful of radiation oncologists whose research and clinical efforts focus exclusively on pediatric patients. He is frequently invited to speak on pediatric radiation oncology topics internationally and across the U.S. and has published extensively on the subject through original research book chapters and review articles. Dr. Ladra’s research efforts focus mainly on pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma treatment, early phase clinical trials involving radiation and non-chemotherapeutic agents, and reducing neurocognitive toxicity for pediatric brain tumor patients. She has extensive expertise in proton therapy, SBRT, pediatric malignancies, and adult sarcoma. She is the Principal Investigator on external grants from ASCO Conquer Cancer, the Department of Defense, and the Carson Leslie Foundation. She is also the Principal Investigator of phase II pediatric brain tumor clinical trials. She has been invited to participate in multiple national and international guideline committees and regularly lectures on pediatric malignancies and proton therapy. Dr. Acharya received her Bachelor's in Chemistry and Political Science from Stanford University and her medical degree from Saint Louis University.
