Philosophy of care | Every patient is different and unique. I like to work with patients as a partner, sitting face to face and talking together. My role is to present various evidence-based treatment options, based on scientific studies. I always encourage patients to ask questions, and I’m there to make sure they understand everything. I’m even happy to write it all down so they can take the information home and think about it. I can’t decide the best treatment for patients by myself, but I can provide options and guidance to help them choose the best care. | Why I entered medicine | My father has diabetes. When I was 15 he started going into a diabetic coma several times a year. The first time it happened, I was at home with my parents where we lived in Taiwan. My mom was crying, so I quickly called my older sister, who is a family doctor in the United States, and asked her what to do. With her help I took his blood pressure, heart rate and checked his blood sugar. I found that I liked caring for my dad and started thinking I’d like to do that for other people someday. But I didn’t really plan to go to medical school until my dad asked one day if I wanted to try. I did, and the rest is history. I’m now helping patients get well and stay healthy, just like I once did for my dad. | Community involvement | I volunteer regularly at my father-in-law’s church in New Jersey. I participate in rummage sales and other fundraisers that support the church community. My other passion is helping animals. I’ve always loved them since I was a child, and my heart cries whenever I see an animal being mistreated. I even thought about becoming a veterinarian before I became a human doctor. I now have two cats that I adopted from a rescue shelter, and I also send regular donations to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). I help whenever I can. | Personal interests | I love spending time with my cats—they’re just like my son and daughter. My husband and I even have a small room in our house just for them, complete with a cat tree and toys. I also love traveling. When I was growing up, my mom took me abroad every vacation. I’ve been to Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Southeast Asia and many other places. I particularly like trying local foods and learning new languages. I speak fluent Chinese and English, plus I know a little Japanese, Korean and Tagalog (spoken in the Philippines). I love to learn new things, and I think seeing many different places and experiencing new cultures has made me a more open person and a better doctor. Philosophy of care | My main goal is to treat every patient as a person with kindness and respect. I’m passionate about preventative care and educating patients about lifestyle changes that help people live longer, healthier and happier lives. I like to take a holistic approach that includes diet, exercise and helping the body heal itself, as opposed to just using medications. I prescribe them when necessary, but a lot of chronic conditions can be improved or prevented with lifestyle changes alone. I think the extra time I spend counseling and educating patients about caring for their bodies is definitely worth it to their health and well-being. | Why I entered medicine | My grandfather was a physician with his own practice. He had a passion for medicine that I believe was passed on to me. He just loved caring for patients and getting to know them. He literally took care of whole families, delivering babies and caring for each family member throughout their entire lives – a true family practitioner. I saw from a young age how rewarding a career in medicine could be. Fortunately, I found that I really enjoyed studying the sciences. Biology was my favorite subject in high school, and I majored in it in college. I took a year off before applying to medical school to work for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. I triaged all patient phone calls and handled OR scheduling. It wasn’t a clinical role, but working closely with patients showed me without a doubt that I wanted to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps. | Community involvement | I have two small children who take a lot of my time when I’m not working, so I give to the community when I can. In college I volunteered with an organization called Dress for Success that helps homeless women dress for job interviews. During my residency, I volunteered at high schools and colleges giving sports physicals. I was a competitive figure skater when I was younger, so I love working with young athletes, talking to them about preventing injuries and staying in peak condition. It’s truly a joy watching them achieve their highest athletic goals. | Personal interests | I love spending time with my two kids and my husband. We like being active outdoors, going for walks as a family and exploring the area. I still skate for fun, and also stay in shape by practicing yoga and spinning (riding a stationary bike). My kitchen is another happy place for me. I love baking and cooking Italian food. My grandparents were born in the United States but met in Rome where my grandfather went to medical school and my grandmother worked for the American embassy. I grew up hearing all about Italian culture and cuisine. In my quieter moments, there’s nothing like a good novel. I’ve always enjoyed losing myself in a book more than watching TV. It’s a wonderful escape and a great way to unwind. Dr. Stockhausen is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome. Philosophy of care | I love the one-to-one connection with the patient. It’s everything in family medicine, as far as I’m concerned. It goes with being an osteopathic doctor, the approach of the human body healing itself and healing the whole body. I'm hard-working, easy to communicate with, and here to help -- whether it be about medicine, the Phillies lineup or just day-to-day life. | Why I entered medicine | I wanted to be a doctor ever since I was young. I even used to dress up as a doctor on Halloween. I developed my interest from my pediatrician. There was a real comfort level in his office. I was pretty much interested in everything medical ever since. I can still remember looking at dissections of a frog in my encyclopedia over and over again. | Community involvement | I participated in the Valley Preferred Tour de Hershey, a bike ride to raise money for childhood cancer. I also contribute to the local dog park in Allentown. | Personal interests | In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Scarlett; enjoying the company of my wife, family and friends; making wine; playing sports; reading books; hiking and eating! I'm also a fan of Philadelphia sports teams. Dr. Sperrazza is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome. Philosophy of care | I think it’s fundamentally important that a solid relationship based on trust be created between myself and patients.  This is accomplished by working in a partnership with the patient to accomplish mutually defined health goals, by treating illnesses and diseases using strategies based on the best evidence, and by ensuring excellent bi-directional communication between myself and patients. | Why I entered medicine | After experiencing numerous injuries and illnesses while growing up, I became deeply familiar with the health care system from the perspective of the patient.  While this generated interest in the role physicians play from direct experience, it also created the desire to give back to others by helping to prevent illnesses and injuries, as well as to manage diseases that arise. | Community involvement | I have had ongoing sponsorship for disadvantaged kids who have suffered burn injuries to enable them to attend a special summer camp through the University of Michigan Burn Center. | Personal interests | I work to maintain my own well-being by spending time with my 20-year-love, Susan, my wonderful 4 kids, extended family and friends (as well as my huge dog, Bo, and multiple other furry and feathered friends).  Together we enjoy family movie nights, ice cream runs (not | every | night!), sporting events, and trips into NYC.  I might periodically also be spotted pounding the pavement on a run or getting muddy on a mountain bike. "Philosophy of care | To me, medicine is combining faith and evidence-based knowledge to prevent and treat illness, while encouraging an atmosphere of shared clinical decision-making. Involving you in your care allows you to engage and play an active role in your health. | Why I entered medicine | I grew up watching my dad, a physician, make such a difference in each of his patient's lives. Since I was a child, I knew how fulfilling and exciting a job in medicine can be. Every day I get to wake up, meet new people, and help each patient be the best and healthiest version of themselves. | Community involvement | My husband and I started a non-profit organization called ""Mission on Fire,"" which focuses on the core tenets of medicine, mission work and marriage. We hope to use our faith and skills in medicine to bring hope and healing all around the world though mission work. | Personal interests | I love cooking, playing tennis, traveling and spending time with my husband and family.". Philosophy of care | It is vital to have patients involved in their treatment process because physicians are only one element of the healing process. I greatly enjoy getting to know the patient as a whole and not just from a medical perspective. | Why I entered medicine | Throughout my childhood I felt fortunate to have had the chance to think about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was in high school when I first realized that medicine was the perfect match for me. If anyone was ever injured or sick, I was the first person on the scene to make sure they were OK. It gives me great comfort and relief to help someone in medical need. | Personal interests | Any spare time that I have is dedicated to my family. We travel, eat and have lots of family gatherings. What is the definition of Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome?

Parinaud oculoglandular syndrome is an eye problem that is similar to conjunctivitis ("pink eye"). It most often affects only one eye. It occurs with swollen lymph nodes and an illness with a fever.

Note: Parinaud syndrome (also called upgaze paresis) is a different disorder in which you have trouble looking upward. The latter can be caused by a brain tumor, and requires an evaluation by your health care provider very promptly.

When should I see a Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Parinaud Oculoglandular Syndrome doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.
