Dr. Brian Miller, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., FACPM is a practicing hospitalist, Associate Professor of Medicine and Business (courtesy) at the Johns Hopkins University, and a Nonresident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. He splits his time between the practice of hospital medicine and interdisciplinary health policy research focused on payment policy, FDA regulatory policy, and healthcare competition policy. Prior to the FTC, Dr. Miller was a Fellow at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, where he co-managed the ACO Investment Model, a $114 million project focused on ACOs in rural areas. Dr. Miller previously served as a member of the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee and a consulting expert witness at the FTC. Dr. Miller is currently serves as a Commissioner on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, which advises Congress on the $800 billion Medicare program, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina State Health Plan, a $4.5 billion/year organization providing health benefits for >700,000 state employees, dependents, and retirees.
